Take HWY 18 through southern SD and you will see the variety from farmland east of the Missouri to ranch and range land west of the Missouri. You'll be going through Indian Reservation land and enter the Black Hills at Hot Springs. Mosey through the Hills to Mt. Rushmore and note the difference of scenery just in a few miles. From grass to rocks to forest. My favorite drive is the drive into Spearfish from south to north. You can litterally coast for seven miles, enjoying fantastic scenery on each side. Exit The Hills at Rapid City east to Wall where you will see a drug store like you've probably never seen before. Take the Badlands tour exiting on Interstate 90 and find your way to Nebraska. There's a good museum at Murdo.
