So, I'm sure by now a lot of you have read or heard about the 2012 F650 and F750 trucks getting the 6.8 v10 gas engine. I was at a guys house that has a 2005 International 4300 rollback with a dt466 and he said he got 8 mpg empty. If the new cummins get close to what that dt466 does, I believe that the v10 would get close to the same mileage as the diesel. My aunt has a 99 Ford Class A chassis motorhome that is 35 feet long and it averaged 10 mpg from Tennessee to Alaska and back. It does have headers and the banks intake on it but what do you guys think? Seems the new diesels don't get as much mileage as they should and them being an $8k option and higher maintenance costs and repair costs it might actually pay to get the v10 even in the long run. Oh yeah, and the fact that diesel is $0.30 more per gallon. I'm not looking into buying one but just thought it would make for an interesting discussion.
