A considerable amount of blowby is normal on those engines... You don't pay it much attention until there's a problem and then you tend to think it's a lot...... What I would do is get a pair of injector bars and pop #2 and #3 injectors out and switch them. Then start the engine and see if the problem follows the injector. It could simply be that you have a bad nozzle on #3 injector and the racket you hear is a fuel knock because of that.... If the problem follows the injector, rebuil/replace the injector. If the problem remains on #3 cylinder... you can either do a compression test or open her up for an assessment.
