A few days ago, I posted a thread asking what kind of bait to use in a live trap for ground hogs digging under my shop. I'd see them, but at the most unexpected time, although I did nail one with a .357 a coupla years ago.
From all the suggestions, I decided to try cantaloup for bait, partly because it was something our cats wouldn't go after and partly because it sounded logical.
In two days, I got two gound hogs. I dispatched them down by the creek and re-baited and set the trap again this evening. (Got a little .22 automatic that's handy for plugging a critter right inside the trap).
Thanks again for the suggestions. I may try apples, too.
