: : Can anyone tell me what to use in the place of tractor fuel? I have been told to use kerosene (that's very expensive). I've also been told to use 1/3 diesel to 3/4 gas? I have a 1944 "A" John Deere that I have just bought, runs good on gas from the pilot tank but they didn't have unleaded gas in "44" HELP I'm new at this! : : This may come as a suprise to you but THEY DID NOT HAVE LEADED GAS IN 1944. Leaded gas didn't come out until after WWII. Also a number of farmers used to use something called "White Gas" instead of "Regular Gas" because it was cheaper. White gas is simular to what is sold now a Colman stove fuel. I have a 1941 Ford 9N and a 1930 Ford Model A and I have no problems. : Keivn Check with your local small airport. Mine has a grade of jet fuel, which is similar to kerosene, but the price is close to that of diesel fuel. good luck.
