The big problem here is that programing is an expensive process. They say there are about 80,000 farms in the US. So an AG program at the very best is going to sell 80,000 copies. In the world of computer programs that isn't very many. If you have a friendly local auto parts store go ask them what the software they runs cost. It's staggering! I've been told by a machinery dealer that the cost of converting from books to computer for a small dealer was going to be around 10K.....and that was 12 years ago. But like an ag application very limited market. I've searched online and you are looking at 1K or better for a complete package (nowhere near as much programing for parts) with no knowledge of how well they work or how easy they are for the end user....or how long the producer will be in business. About 250 for the watered down version.
So if money is an issue and you don't want to gamble on the quality or ease of the end user a simple spreadsheet (bundled with a lot of word processors) and an accounting program like Quicken would be cheaper. The spreadsheet can be used to keep track of cost to keep a piece of equipment or to track a herd.
Above info is not from me but from my #2 son who has a degree in programing and works in the computer field.

If it would just start when I turn the key, then I would use it more often. In addition to a bad case of old age, most of the tractor's original electrical system was simply too unreliable to keep. The main focus of this page is to show how I upgr
