I've had something like that happen twice. Ran our Honda 200,000 miles on the OEM filters bought at the dealer, then they changed them to tall & skinny rather than short & fat, now I get filters wherever they're on sale. We bought a Dodge Caravan, first time I had the dealer change the oil and take care of some odds and ends. I changed the oil next time with filter and oil from Autozone, the oil filter they sold me was different than the one I took off. Went back to Autozone and had them re-check, no their book says it's right, also checked O'Reilys and Wal-mart all indicated I had the right filter. Figured it out about 4 oil changes later, Chrysler changed the filter between 06 & 07 and the dealer used the 06 filter on it.
