: : I recently bought an old ferguson tractor. At the : : time the dealer told me it was a 30 horse so i was : : thinking TO-30. After cleaning it up, I can read : : the serial number as TE 66248. The engine is stamped : : Z120A600. There is a second stamp on the engine that : : reads A29Z. I know that a TE-20 has the z120 engine : : in it. but the second stamp sounds like the Z129 : : which is in the TO-30. Also if it's a TE that would : : make it a 1948? If TO 1951? Which one is more : : valuable if anyone knows? The tractor is in great : : shape and is a real workhorse. Doesn't really matter : : to me which it is, I'm just curious. : : thanks in advance : Its a TE-20. heres a link to look up serial #. they talk about the rest of it too! : I figured you'd have more fun investigating the numbers yourself! : Rob One sure way to tell if you have a TO-20 is the oil pan has the flat round hole for the oil filter inside. The TO-30 with the Z-129 has the oil filter externally mounted on the right side. If the tag on the dash said TE-20 you can probably bet the whole tractor is the English model 20. The TE's used aluminum for the transmission housing and the TO's did not. You could try a magnet on there to be sure if you like. Have fun. Ivan Pavlovich
