If you have to change them again, next time use Murphy guages. I had a customer with several air compressor units that were constantly eating guages. I tried a bunch of the other name brands, including Steward Warner, and they all failed within a year or so. I finally went with the Murphy's because some of their guages have contact points built in that allowed me to consolidate the safety shutdown system on the machines and made them a little easier to exchange between the machines that they were mounted to. They made wiring everything easier, and have lasted going on 7 years now with no problems.
Another name brand that seem to be good are the Faria guages. If you look at alot of older equipment they used Faria back then and like you stated, the old guages just kept on working.
