JohnT the real problem is that most of the population of the USA does not agree with these words. They have no contact with anyone that serves their country. That is just left to the stupid and poor. The rich and "smart" people are too good/cool to fight for this country anymore.
I have asked my Grand Daughter's friends what Memorial Day is for. 90% of them say it is to celebrate the start of summer. They have no clue what it is really about.
I guess that after all the years of not learning anything patriotic in school has turned this country on it's rear. I was in a Memorial Day parade this morning. It was so short that many did not even know what it was. I can remember when the parade would fill the whole town. A Friday night football game would have had many more people. Just for a silly game that will be forgotten in a week.
People too busy to even stop and honor those that give them the freedom to do what they want. It will not be long until the masses will no longer have the freedom they value so little. We are ripe for it to happen. Too few would even know what to do to stand up for anything other than the latest fad.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
