If yours is a Pertronix electronic ignition, ask Pertronix if the Acniter II module is avalible for your application. While the old Acniter module would stay powered up until the module and coil burned up, they tell me the Acniter II module will power down if it detects no engine motion after a time, so the module and coil are protected from overheating and burnout. Pertronix used to advertize in this site, maybe still do.
