Don't blame 'ya at all Chief, I too get a bit nervous when I'm being followed for a while. When I moved I had a yard full of old cars to move. Trying to do it as effeciently and cheap as possible, I welded a receiver hitch on the back of my 16 foot trailer and hooked the car dolley up to it. The first trip (500+ miles one way) I was sweating the whole way. Several Texas DPS troopers looked and went on, so I figured I must have been OK. I never did ask anyone, all I did was look up the maximum lenght allowed and I was shy of that number by a little bit. I did hook up safety chains and an extra set of lights on the rear car each trip. I made a total of 7 trips like this and not one time was I stopped. Lucky maybe? Probably.
