I put six rows of sweet corn in a 12 row planter with field corn in the other six rows on the edge of a corn field. The sweet corn rows are about 100 feet long, then I switched those rows back to field corn. It's in excellent black, loose, moist soil, the best in the west. Population set at 31500. ( I know, too thick for sweet corn). We had nearly 2" of gentle rain after it was planted. Field corn all came up and looks exceptional. Sweet corn has a 50% stand at best and some places are completely bare. The sweet corn seed is freebie stuff the Pioneer dealer gives out and I don't know where he gets it. A couple of years ago in the same field the sweet corn had a near 100% stand. Go figure! Jim
