Sorry to hear of the deth of your friend. There are a lot of motorcycles on the road nowdays. seams like about every month someone gets killed here. I have been riding since the late 50's. I don't ride much nowdays, but I enjoy restoring them. My favorite is my 37 indian Chief. If you stop riding you will probably not get killed on a M/C, but there are a lot of other ways to get killed. Just ride with caution, and always stay alert. Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
