The last time I called 800 dig, the water main wasn't where they marked it. The water company told me if I hit their main it would have been my fault, not theirs. They don't have to be accurate. Some say 3 ft and some say 10 ft. Water company told me that I should hand dig. Yea, right.
As for finding your private lines, you are on your own. Find someone with a signal tracer. Or start at the shed and dig by hand. LOL George
