Paul what is really amazing is that the main part of the house was put up in the late 1800's and was a Sears kit delivered by rail that ran on the north side of the farm. All 2x4 construction except the floor joist.
One addition was added in 1942 (BILs father helped put it up) and the 2nd addition was added in 72 by my dad and I Year that dad bought this place....we needed indoor plumbing....LOL). The side with the sliding door was a porch That I enclosed as part of our ongoing renovation. Hope to get it sided this year if I don't have repairs on the equipment like I did last year.
We tore out the old plaster and lath. New insulation and windows and a room by room rehab. When mom was still with us she was burning 600 gallons of LP a month heating this house. We are now burning about 150 when it's real cold....like -20.
