Marilyn has celiacs, meaning no gluten. It's becoming a very common malady today. She can't even eat non-gluten grain products that have been processed in the same building as wheat or barley. A corn taco might be contaminated with wheat or barley dust. If meat in the restaurant is marinated it has gluten in it, guaranteed. She's reacted to non-gluten restaurant food that's fried on the same grill as food containing gluten. Makes eating out a real pain because just about everything we eat has gluten in it. She can't touch eggs either, so if she has a salad, it can't have eggs and the only dressing she can have is vinegarette. All other salad dressings have gluten. When we travel she has her stash of non-gluten food with her.
She had experimented with non-gluten cooking from recipies other celiacs sufferers have shared with her and she's getting pretty good at it. This evening we had fried zucchini with mozzarella cheese, topped with crumbled hamburger with a touch of onion and it was darned good. Come to think of it, I eat pretty much gluten free because she's the cook and we don't eat out much.Jim
