Red tail hawks get harassed by the crows here, protecting their nests, red wing black birds and some others also do the same thing, but they have the wrong guy, theres another smaller species that flys like an F-16 through young thick woods, into thick pine trees, pilfering young birds in the nest, I had one in a dense shrub near my front door, one determined bird, red tails like pigeons near the city.
Only time I saw a red tail go after a crow, was in my stand late whitetail season, chased and I believe nailed him in a small valley, was just out of site when I heard that crow in anguish, that time of year the crows migrate daily, not sure how this one ended up going the wrong way, with a bogie on his tail.
I witnessed a red tail, come off the high voltage tower, swoop in over our field and knock a turkey upside down, feathers flying, turkey got up, walked away, hawk did one more drive by, decided it was too much, no 2nd wave attack LOL !
