Like most of their and similar products, they are marketed to make profits for service departments. Check your owners manual, you will find most of the services they reccomend are not reccomended by the manufacturers. That said they probably do no harm and around here they do a pretty decent job of honoring their warranties.It's up to you if you want to spend your money. Most manufacturers have gone to great lengths to use synthetic lubes in transmissions and axles to limit the need for these services. To me they are mostly a waste of money. If they can show you your fluid and it looks, smells like it should be changed, then you probably should. If it is just "time" to change it all you are doing is lining someones pockets.Check your owners manual, it is a good read, better yet show it to the person who is trying to sell you these services and see how they react, that might really help you decide.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
