It is dry here in IL, but according to my 90 year old Grandpa who says...Yes, its dry but I have seen this before. He said in 1936, they would go to the field to cultivate with the horses at 3 a.m. and by 8 a.m. it was too hot. They could not escape the heat and the dry. In 1954, strong winds fried the corn crop and turned the leaves and tassels white, though they raised decent beans that year. 1988 it was as dry as it is now. So, there will be dry years, wet years, and moderate years.
