I've got one here that has me shaking my head. Had a lone stragler Angus cow calved Wednesday. Thought that night she didn't really look like she'd been sucked. Thursday morning I was pretty sure of it. Mixed up some powdered colostrum and bottle fed it,sucked it right down. That night, drank about 2/3s of the milk replacer I gave it. Friday morning, drank about half. I tubed some electrolites in it yesterday afternoon, mixed up some more colostrum last night, tried to feed it about 5 o'clock, wouldn't take it. Same thing at 7:30. This morning,it took several rest stops, but he drank it cold. Wife said she saw the little devil sucking another cow from behind (not it's mother) this afternoon. Wouldn't take the bottle at all tonight. Tried at 5 and again at 8. His eyes look good, not like he's dehydrated. He's getting around. After I fed him this morning he got right up bunting his mother in the neck. Don't know what's gonna become of him. His mother stays with him, acts threatening to me when I try to feed him. Sometimes it sure is fun to be in the cattle business.
