My sister had a small lump on her neck back in Dec 2007. We all met at her place for Christmas. Her family doctor never referred her to get a biopsy of that lump. Our daughter is a Nurse Practitioner and she told her to find another doctor. The results of that biopsy wasn't good news. They told her up front she had non hodgkin's lymphoma and wouldn't survive. She died 3 months later and was very thin.
Every family member over 35 that has a family history cancer should get a complete physical every year, also get a colonoscopy before you're 35 if there's a family member diagnosed with cancer. I think I had to pay a $50.00 copay when I had mine. Told me to come back in 10 years. I'm with Kaiser Permanente. Hal PS: Have the option of changing every Nov.
