I went the other way. Decided that the more likely scenario would be that I would wake up with my own gun from the nightstand pointed at my head, so I sold my gun.
Guy at work took the carry class and bought 2 pistols. I asked if he kept them on his nightstand; he said: "No, I keep them in the safety deposit box at the bank where my wife works." Guess he figured a burglar would wait around while he retrieved a gun from the bank.
