I guess one of the Mecum guys was really interested in the 60's and 70's stuff so thats why they got into it. They definitely need some help though if they are going to keep doing televised events. The 1 hour infomercial a few weeks back was absolutely painful, especially every time they mentioned the steamer. you're not going to find an expert on everything, but they really could have used a couple of more guys with familiarity on a variety of subjects, especially pre war. They got talking about the Avery steamers while on the BF Avery and I just kinda rolled my eyes. The marketing on the Minneapolis maybe could have been better anyway, I didn't ask, but I saw nowhere a mention of availability for/of an ultrasound, information on the boiler or any inspections or certifications.
Don't get me wrong, Mecum puts on a fun event and I have been to all of them on at least one day. I was up there yesterday, but it seemed like a sparse crowd this time. I don't know if it was because so much else is going on, but I also don't feel like they did themselves a lot of favors on this sale. but for anyone thinking of going, its worth it it to check it out, they usually have something of interest for everyone, even the steel wheel guys.
