Jon, gotta stop and think....the farmer of yesteryear didn't have to have weekends and evenings off. Time to plow? They got up, did chores, went to the field, worked till chore time, did chores and went back to the field. I knew an old guy who plowed about 200 acres ever year into the early 80's with an AC CA and a 2-12 plow. I can plow as many acres as needed with an N......just takes longer. Back in the day there were tractors that would pow rings around an M (HP may have been close but the extra weight allowed them to do more without digging hole or spilage......like the WD9 and the JD R. Those were the BTO tractors of the day. Sure before chem farming when people cultivated they may had had a WD9 or an R but they also had an M or G that they cultivated row crops with. AC sold a lot of tractors in the B and C range by convincing farmers that by getting rid of the horse they freed up 20 acres. The A/B/C IH's, 9/2/8N's, AC A/B/C/CA were never intended for the guy plowing 100 acres. The target market there was the guys doing 40-60 at the most, then add in the guys that got them as a yard or chore tractor.
I'm really starting to think that the Ford N series bashers are mad cause Ford out sold them all by a wide margin! if you count it as just an N that started with the 9N in 1939 and ran through the NAA that finished it's run in 54. Plus the much desired H/M"s, AC WD line and JD A/B/G just isn't as desirable today. Lot of guys who grew up in rural areas can't park a big tractor in the yard in suburbia cause of laws and the guy next door. An N series will fit in the garage. I think that's why some guys collect garden tractors.

Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that. In addition to years and years of scuffing and fading, they had paint splattered on
