Not necessarily a recent thing- When I worked for PCA, we bought fleets of cars about every 3 years. Bunch of Plymouths in '74, everybody hated 'em, so Fords in '77. Boss said instead of the independent repair outfit, we'll get them serviced at Ford. Mine was the first to go in for an oil change, and replace a busted headlight. $112! (remember, this was 35 years ago). Boss hit the roof, and told everyone to go back to the independent guy (who was charging 20 bucks for an oil change, IIRC).

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
