Technology is amazing, just the fact that you know she is / was stuck and running late is wonderful. When I was a wee tot I was on a train with my Mom going from California to Ohio. We were asleep as it was around 1 or 2 AM when the train began jerking around violently waking everyone up. It was obvious we were no longer moving, but looking out the window all you could see was dark. Finally after quite some time we could see flashing lights and then the conductor came through telling everyone to stay in their seats, that we had hit a car. We were there for hours before we finlly got underway again. Upon arrival at the Depot, we were told what had happened. 4 teenagers racing the train had lost their lives. The conductor told us we could see the damage to the front of the train when we departed, it looked like half the front of the train had been cut away with a torch. Granddad had made several trips to the station to pick us up only to be sent back home with a new estimate of time of arrival. He was not happy, but after finding out what happened he was relieved to know we were OK explaining that the train could have derailed.
