Kinda easy. Use a voltage checker and test each terminal on your truck then a jumper wire to the trailer wire until it puts voltage to the correct place. I had one come unplugged around midnight in a rain storm in North Dakota. Used a short wire I had in the tool box to jump from the truck to the trailer wire. When the correct wire lighted the correct light I put it in the new plug. Wedged the trailer brake lever in the cab and checked the voltage on the plug to the wire going to the brakes. What I figured out on the trip is that you get very wet wiring a trailer plug in a rain storm as well as to check the plug when you stop and check safety chains and tires. I did have a coupla good flash lights with me. I was also glad I had a change of duds with me.
