: I have been looking around and have found different answers to this question. How much Horsepower does my 1951 Farmall M have? It runs good(fairly smooth), doesn't use oil, starts right-up with full choke, and has plenty of power brushogging and bailing hay. Do you think it could handle a 7' haybine? Our sickle bar mower is about to die. The hp of your M may vary widely from Nebraska test results. A lot of these tractors have been fitted with oversize sleeves and pistons, higher compression pistons, and aftermarket governors to the point that they will dyno test at 45 to 50 hp. Probably the best way for you to check the way it works with this equipment is to find someone who'll let you pull theirs for a half-hour.
