I see kruser has been wondering what we've been up to around here so I guess I will show everyone. We have been very busy to say the least. The dry weather has us hauling water to a pasture several miles away a couple times a week. We had cows escaping out of one pasture everyday for about a week. Been waiting and waiting for the custom silage guy and trying to work on a little corral project along with our normal everyday stuff.
This is or corral/working setup partially complete. A couple more days and we will have it all done. Maybe yet this week!
We spent sunday monday and tuesday chopping silage. The custom guy got here and we did our three bags, then helped with three more for one friend and one bag for yet another friend.
None of us have silos. We put the corn silage in bags. It pretty simple. Put the plastic on the back of the bagger. Put the back stop in place and start filling.
Just pull the wagon up next to the bagger and it goes up the conveyer and into hopper where the impeller packs the silage. The little red box applies innoculant to help the ensiling porcess.
The finished product. In 6 hours we bagged over 800,000lbs of silage.
It takes about 3.5 minutes to fill a wagon.
And it takes about 5.5 minutes to unload a wagon into the bagger.
Just a couple of pics from the feedlot. Morning and night everyday the cattle get fed, no days off.
These guys are always happy to see me coming!
Since we are done with silage now we have a place to spread manure so I started that project about 5 oclock tonight. Job security is not a problem for anyone around here.
I can usually tell how busy we are just watching wrigley. He has been asleep at my feet for over an hour, not a peep. I guess we have been busy! bill
