Then you will want to seal it up good so that no sand gets inside. You have to be careful sandblasting sheetmetal parts like gas tanks as you can warp the metal. Make sure not to hit it too hard with the sandblast stream. I sandblasted a tractor hood that was rusty and ended up warping it so that it took a lot of effort to reshape it again. Roger
