Yesterday my best friend, the love of my life, the mother of my children, my companion of thirty eight years, was struck and seriously injured by a power line that was caught and broken by a passing truck.
The cable wrapped around her leg and jerked her off her feet. She sustained multiple fractures of her lower right leg, and the arteries behind the knee were destroyed. The structure of the knee itself was not damaged. She was in the operating room for nearly three hours, the damaged arteries have been bypassed and the circulation returned to her leg, but only time will tell whether the leg has been saved. As of 10:00PM when I left the hospital she had not been revived from the anesthesia, they intend to keep her under and on a ventilator until morning, as there is also some bruising of one lung, and they want to be sure she is can breathing well.
I am not able to sleep so I am posting this. I am going back to the hospital tomorrow and probably staying for a while.
