The Perkins Diesel was first introduced in the Cockshutt Golden Eagle 40D4/40PD and was intended for sale in USA only.It was built in 1956-1957 and there is nobody that knows the true number of them produced. It was one of two tractors that Cockshutt gave a model name to. The other was the Golden Arrow which was used to show some new technology that was used the next year in the models 540 and 550.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
