I'm very much a believer that ethanol does not cause as many problems as some people claim. I also suspect it does cause a few problems to older rubber components that dry out from exposure to ethanol. I personally have had very few problems and when I did it was on older carbureted cars.
10% ethanol might possibly drop the mileage in some cars but very, very few drivers do a thorough comparison. They might claim worse mileage on one tankfull and go by that. I did a 5000 mile mileage comparison on one vehicle, a Chevy s-10. 2500 miles regular and 2500 miles ethanol doing the normal driving around home that I do and I found no difference between the two. It took me a half year to get it done and I started in the fall so a lot of it was winter driving. If I would have done it for a full year I might have seen a difference, then maybe not. As many of you know, I keep very detailed mileage records on my vehicles and the biggest cause of varied mileage is my mood, pure and simple. The mood we are in affects mileage more than we think. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
