Assuming you've pulled any leaves or debris out from the radiator...
I'd start by flushing that junk out of the system, and put some good stuff in. A good thing to do even aside from having this problem.
Make sure you refill it right to work all the air pockets out.
Pressure check it if you've got the tool - otherwise look closely for leaks.
If it's still over heating - is it a fan clutch? or electric fans?
If electric watch it to be sure it's turning on. If aftermarket, may not be enough air moving.
If a fan clutch - harder to test. try spinning it after the engine's warmed up. Should be fairly stiff. (obviously turn the engine off for that one). Try rocking the fan back and forth to see if the bearings are gone.
Also - after egnine is heated - feel the radiator if you can get a hand in there. look for cool spots - that'll show you it's clogged.
If all else fails, just run your heater on high while you're idling :)
