Sandblasting/Tip of Day

I noted the gentleman with the JB WELD and today's "Tip of the Day" talking about sandblasting. I have some friends that build race cars and the never use sand. They always use peanut or walnut shells, baking soda, or even powdered detergent. While less abrasive/evasive, should any get where it shouldn't be the consequences are far less drastic. Most engines can digest the gentler materials. Hope this helps someone.
