Ours was an earlier JD 7000. I welded weight brackets on each side to hold the IH suitcase weights. I put 4 of the 75 or 78lb weights per side.
This planter also had insecticide boxes in the back. We put bags of sand in each box. Probably 60 lbs or so.
You need to keep the planter colters and furrow openers in the soil, but you also need to watch the drive wheels. At times we had the drive wheels lifting off the ground and that could definately cause problems.
