BTDT. I"ve learned to only work on stuff on the concrete if at all possible, I have my share of scars too. Got a gash in my head once while working under a truck, seems I layed in a pile and they began working on the crotch area. Raised up so quick I whacked the bottom side of the truck. Ran for a garden hose, dropped my drawers and drenched myself. OUCH! Last few years there hasn"t been many here in S. TX. since it"s been so darn dry. A few weeks ago we got a 2 inch rain and they came up everywhere. Started dumping Orthene on the mounds and ended up with twice as many mounds, can"t ever seem to get them all and they will move when their home is disturbed. They do not like vibration, I never have any in the goat pens or the dog pens since the animals are always moving. I"m pretty glad of that too since when it"s kidding time you can loose a kid pretty quick if it"s dropped on a fire ant mound. Puppies are the same way.
