By any legitimate economics I have studied this can not go on without severe consequences. The "gubbermint" can't cut services to the degree it needs to without a revolution happening. It will come down to a soaking of the rich with very heavy taxes. Economic growth will stop or even decline. If heavy taxation happens I would think that would create downward pressure on land prices as those who would normally being throwing big money around to buy will now being paying a very large chunk of it to the tax people.
