Leasing at this point in time is probably only really effective for a business. Generally a lease payment can be expensed whereas a purchase has to be capitalized and depreciated. Sometimes it is an advantage to lease and expense it direectly. Sometimes not. For personal use where it can't be expensed... I don't see a lot of point to leasing unless you can get some kind of sweetheart deal that doesn't exist on an outright purchase or finance plan. I don't think there's many of those deals right now.
