I had a lot of neck pumpkins, they look like an over grown butternut squash. I passed some out to my neighbors here in nj,most of them have young children, one has 4 children. I pass out the squash, explain it makes very good pumpkin pie,or you can eat it as you would butternut squash,or it makes a good fall decoration, All the neighbors chose the decoration idea, nobody made pie or cooked them... Where we are working the homeowner is a nice older person well in his eightys, probably a multi multi millionaire, I had one of those neck pumkins in the back of my truck,so I gave it to him, Didnt go through my usual spiel of how to cook them ,figured he could care less, just like my young neighbors with the large familys,. Well , this morning he walked through the mud to come tell me that he cooked the squash. and thanked me., and told me how good it was. When I told him I have acorn squash his eyes lit up and said his mom used to cook them,he would love some. Then he proceeded to tell me how lucky I was to be able to grow my own vegetables. He made me feel rich!
