Some cars made in war years or sold as 1942-1945 when actually made 1941/1942. Friend had a 1942/43 Plymouth in family- no chrome, black paint, basic transport for medical personel, his grand father was a doctor then and needed car, got to purchase it. Some fancy cars got made/finished for politicians- no surprise there. Some Jeeps and Dodge 4x4s made it to civilian sale also- medical, state critical to defense workers/agencies, military industry and commodity suppliers-couple Texas ranchers got Jeeps for cattle round up use to supply beef to Army- 1944 made model with the state license plate sealed in plastic was at a show couple years back. Chevy square back 4 door sedans by lot made were sold to civilians that needed them- this was a staff car/utility model with same drive train as pickup used by Army and Lend Lease supplied, Ford had some similar diversion of military use models. A 1943 assembled from previous stamped body parts and new engine wouldn't surpise me. RN
