I'd stay with a Mahindra or maybe look at a Cub Cadet which is a Yanmar with a yellow paint job or for more $s look at Kubota or John Deere. The important thing to remember is a tractor should be a durable good, meaning it'll last a long time. Go with a brand that is established so you'll have parts and service available for a long time, if you're not going to keep it for a long time buying one one of the major brands insures you'll have some resale value. Look at some of the folks that bought cheaper tractors 30-40 years ago heck they bought a Leyland 'cause it was $2,000 cheaper than a Deere, Farmall or Massey Ferguson. The Deere, Farmall or MF is still worth $4-6,000 dollars or more and you can still get parts, the Leyland is worth 1/2 of that and there are no parts available. Some guy in the area has two tractor for sale a late 50's Ford and a Belarus from the 80's $2,800 your choice.
