My recently purchased 1966 ford 3000 has power steering oil coming out below the steering wheel. The previous owner has tried to fix, so, I do not know what was done or if it, was done right.
I replaced the speedy sleeve and seal. with the spring pointing down towards he frame of tractor. I checked the tubing going to the cylinders. I have the check valve at 6 o'clock position as you sit on the tractor seat. Seems like the steering is fighting itself, oil is returning to reservoir. The distri- bution valve identification line is facing down. I am using universal hydraulic oil, instead of p/s fluid. When I lift front end with loader, steering linkage turns, with no binding. Please help with any thoughts and ideas. Should I use pure p/s fluid, install another speedy sleeve, are lines plugged in p/s cylinders, maybe??? I have the Ford repair manual. Thank You, in advance.
