We got caught up on rain again, sooner or later and most years, its not uncommon from what I recall, to just expect a rainy season. Last year we got nailed by tropical storms, got it all at once, then it dried out, I could moldboard plow in early December, problem is, that was fine, but all the roads and bridges washed out, not so good!
Thing that gets me is how the rain destroys tomato crops, I had a later planting, lush green, loaded with tomatoes, just enough time to ripen, I've done it in other years right up to December on the hill side against the foundation of my house, since Sept. 27th, that week of high humidity, intermittent rain, and its rained almost daily with a few exceptions, those tomatoes were done, I need a roll out roof !!
We live in an area of conflict, tropical air from the south, and cold dry air from the north, whether it meets here or further west, how many fronts have we seen come across since this summer, that stretch way south, to way up in Canada, sometimes they miss us, theres a hole in the middle or we get a direct hit, last fall winter and spring was the calmest I can recall, just a turbulent area sometimes and as dry as it can get, I can't ever recall a time where the rains did not return in the fall, and a dry spell from the summer continued, thats a blessing in comparison to where folks are suffering long droughts, regardless, it seems to be a safe place to live, always a conversation about it too, I just wonder what happens when the temperatures drop and if those patterns continue, could add up to a lot of snow, bring it on I'm ready, starting on next years wood shortly.
