It does not take much force to press on a speedi-sleeve. All it takes is a little chamfer or edge break on the end of the shaft, some lubricant and the right diameter pipe sleeve or deep well socket to go around it and then press or tap it on square to the shaft. I leave the flange on if it won't cause a problem, just in case I want to re-position it later.
Measure the wall thickness of the speedi-sleeve, you will find that it's only a few thousanths of an inch thick. If it is too thick it would not work well with new seals without changing to a different seal size.
It is not really worth the time to heat a speedi-sleeve because the thermal-mass is so small it will quickly cool down to the shaft temperature as soom as it contacts the shaft, before you can slide the sleeve all the way on.
I can't say if the hair drier would work for removal, I've never worn one out. A small torch would likely work quicker.
