Those things are the most high maintenance junk pipes GM ever built, I got one I drive to work. The switch and the motor are problems and the motor is hi priced. Can you hear the motor click or run when you shift it setting in neutral. If you can then see if the vacum actuator under the battery is pulling the cable to the frt axle, it's a hard spot to see. The vac to the frt axle goes through a 3 port switch on the left frt of the trans fer case. The vac switch can be a problem too but I think that usually causes the frt axle to stay engauged when you want to turn it off. Good luck
