: : : : : : : I want a little tractor for working in my garden (it's pretty big as gardens go) and have a chance to buy either an Allis-Chalmers G or a Farmall Cub, both with one row cultivators. Which one is better? With the G, it looks like you'll have a really good view of the row you're cultivating and it has new tires. They're both the same horsepower, so that's not an issue. What's a good price for each? : : : You also have an excellent view of the row you are cultivating on the Cub as you sit right over and look straight down on the row. IH called this "Cultivision". : : : Harold H : : : : :I see many cubs in good running order and not too ugly for as much as $2800....i don`t see many Allis G`s....but the one`s i do see are about the same price range as the Cubs....since the Cubs are more common and parts much more readily available, that might be the one to look closer at. Good luck with either. : : Dale. : I happen to own both the cub and the G, and I don't think you can go wrong with either one. They are both priced about the same, and are presently holding their value. Depending on what you want to do with them, I tend to favor the G because of it's uniqueness, but my cub has been in our family for three generations, so it is a dependable little work horse. The cub tends to be harder to get onto, but will pull it's own weight around any small acreage. Good Luck, you have two very good choices. : David ? ? ? ? ? I fail to see the problem here ! The answer is clear, buy them both ! (surly there is something of value laying around the wife won't miss (at least for a while). ;-)
