David, I paid $1,100 for a 1938 from a guy named Rietter (sp) in Ohio. I pulled the dipstick out and the oil had water in it. When I questioned him about that he said it was condensation. Being a mechanic myself I knew he was lying but what do you do when you've driven 1,000 miles pulling a trailer to get it? It had been repainted but not good at all which required me to do it all over again. It runs pretty fair and I've enjoyed it. Hope this helps a bit. Have a good day. John
