I know what you are talking about, shoes are a real pain in the @ss to find a good fit, quality and durability, within a reasonable price, I've found most cheap shoes are just not worth a darn, seemingly good quality is apparently overpriced, its just difficult sometimes, yet its really important, for posture, safety, all your weight bears on your feet, I used to stretch things too far, feet, back and so on suffer, nothing better than finding a good pair of shoes that fit your needs and a new pair of cotton socks.
The old "Klettering" tread like Vibram made and still makes, and similar, absolutely hold wet sticky clay with turf and so on, however I find a plastic hoove pick with a brush, makes short work of clearing out the mud, lean against a wall, raise one leg have at it, switch, thats it, I find an appropriate place where the accumulated mud is not an issue, or just come in through the cellar/garage/mancave, which takes on all kinds of dirt and debris from hauling in wood, vehicles etc. I hang one of those hoof picks by the cellar door. It does not take long and if I think about getting lazy, I just remember cleaning the same muck out of D8K track frames after my shift which was hard work, shoes "ain't nuthin" compared to that LOL !!!
